April 04, 2018
Most women suffer from stretch marks usually after pregnancy, but that’s not the only cause for it. Men too have stretch marks and so do women who are not pregnant. Stretch marks occur due to a sudden weight gain or weight loss. There are various natural products that can help reduce stretch marks and lighten them if not make them disappear completely. However, it requires a regular skin care programme and strict discipline.
Here are a few effective home remedies to reduce stretch marks –
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a plant that helps regenerate skin tissue and as such it has miraculous healing properties. Take the fresh gel from the leaf and massage onto the area with stretch marks and leave on for 20-30 minutes. Do it daily and wash off with tepid water.

Apricots have great exfoliating tendencies, which make them very effective when it comes to healing stretch marks. Take 2-3 apricots, cut them and take out the seeds. Crush the fruit into a paste and apply this mask on the stretch mark affected areas and leave it on for 15 minutes. Using warm water, wash it off and then repeat the process every day for a month to see results.
Pure apricot oil has skin rejuvenating properties and therefore helps in reducing stretch marks. Massage onto the skin with some lemon juice for effective results.

Natural Ways To Combat Backaches

April 04, 2018
Painkillers, as we know, aren’t the best possible solution in the long run but what can one do in case of extreme situations. Here is Ways To Fight Against Backache & Treatment needs to be holistic and something that provides a life-long solution. Hence resorting to certain simpler home techniques gives you that permanent relief naturally. So, in the case of a backache, adopt the following six ways for alleviating and relieving your pain.
  1.  Yoga
Yoga definitely helps in finding the required support from within. It teaches us to move with the flow and is an excellent way for relieving and preventing back related pains.
Just use your breath and stick with it while practicing yoga. Start slow and glide in steadily as there’s no need to rush. Move with ease and mindfully. You can always search for poses like downward facing dog, pigeon pose, cat and cow pose and upward facing dog for performing on a regular basis at least once a day.
  1. Oil Massage
Soothing oil massages show a visible and much effective result. Start by massaging the area around your lower back and not directly on your spine. Give yourself a warm hug and ensure that AC and/ or fans are switched off!
Essential oils like basil, ginger, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary and marjoram can be used to reduce inflammation and back pain. These can be diluted in some carrier oils like coconut, olive, sweet almond, jojoba and/ or castor. They are all emotionally calming and tension relieving oils.
      3. Foods that help and harm
There are some foods that effectively help you fight against back pain. These include ginger, olive oil, turmeric, red grapes, and thyme. Plus, cooking with some organic butter or coconut oil also helps. Increase your intake of fresh veggies, nuts, seeds, lentils, and beans. But cut down the consumption of sugary foods, coffee, alcohol, carbonated drinks and refined carbohydrates. And moreover, stick to a nourishing and warm diet to let your Vata remain balanced.
  1. Stay hydrated
As our joints are partly made of water, any kind of chronic dehydration can start to cause pain & stiffness on your back. Hence drink at least 3L of water every day to stay hydrated and avoid tea/ coffee which again contributes to increase dehydration in the body. Drinking herbal teas help in relieving back pain.
  1. Vitamin C
One of the major roles of Vitamin C is to produce collagen in the body and also protect the cells from free radical damage. Lowering vitamin c levels contribute to increasing pain along with inflammation. For this, best sources are broccoli, kale, red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, peppers, and berries.
  1. Bring down those extra kilos
One main reason for back pain to aggravate is the sheer pressure on the vertebrae because of being overweight. Try and lose those kilos to stay on the ideal weight scale. Plus exercising would again help you to reduce the pain. Switch over to healthier diets and take care of yourself.
To summarize, eat healthily and do not forget your dose of vitamins & minerals. Avoid all extreme climatic conditions along with keeping your mind clear to avoid that stress. Because giving yourself the care and rest you need is essential for a healthier and fit you!

Why Collagen Should Be Included in Your Diet

April 04, 2018

Collagen is an extremely important fibrous protein that is found in connective tissue – it’s in our bones, our joints and is also a major component of our skin. In fact, collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body making up around 30% of all the body’s proteins. The word collagen comes from the ancient Greek word κόλλα (kolla), which translates to “glue”. This is perfectly apt as its function is to hold our body together, like glue, providing firmness and strength. Collagen is so strong, in fact, that type 1 collagen fibrils gram for gram are stronger than steel.
In the body, collagen proteins form fibrils. These are long tubes of fibrous tissue which are arranged with a regular pattern. With age, however, our collagen production decreases, resulting in weaker connections. This is why our skin wrinkles, our joints become less stable and our tendons and ligaments become more prone to injury. It also contributes to the type of bone loss experienced in osteoporosis
After exercise our muscle tissue repairs as a result microscopic tears in the muscle leading to growth. While muscle growth responds to exercise relatively quickly, the building of connective tissue and, in particular, collagen is relatively slow.
Additionally, the aging of skin which is seen in the form of lines, wrinkles and pigment changes occurs due to the breakdown of collagen. This occurs naturally with age, but also with damage from the sun or disease.
In short, collagen keeps our joints strong and keeps wrinkles at bay. But how can we build collagen and keep our joints strong and our skin healthy?

Vitamin C

Scurvy, most famous for affecting malnourished sailors in the 18th century is caused by a deficiency in vitamin C. Unlike most animals, we are unable to synthesize vitamin C in our bodies and so it must be obtained through diet. Vitamin C is found in many vegetables and fruits, including citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwis, and broccoli. Another great source of vitamin C is PurePharma SB3, which is packed full of vitamin C in addition to pro and prebiotics.
Significantly, Vitamin C is required for the formation of collagen (4). Without it, tissues begin to break down leading to bleeding gums, muscle and joint pain, as well as tiredness associated with scurvy. Though a deficiency is relatively rare nowadays it still highlights the importance of getting adequate vitamin C through your diet to keep the collagen in your skin, bones and joints as healthy as possible.

Protein

Collagen, as with all protein structures in the body, is composed of building blocks known as amino acids. In order to create amino acids to build proteins, we must ingest protein through our diet. Then, dietary protein is broken down into its constituent amino acids before it is rebuilt into other proteins, for example for repairing muscle tissue or, indeed, to build collagen. So we need a healthy supply of dietary protein, be it from animal sources such as beeffish or from healthy protein supplements such as PurePharma PR3.

Gelatin

You’re probably aware that changes in the Western diet have resulted in a shift in our fatty acid intake from ingesting less animal fat while consuming more vegetable oils. This has resulted in many of us experiencing a deficiency in omega-3 while getting too much omega-6.
In a similar fashion, the way we typically choose perfectly trimmed cuts of meat and fish, while eating less gelatin and collagen rich foods such as bone broth, pigs’ trotters and offal. This has created a significant shift in our amino acid intake. By contrast, we know that our hunter-gatherer ancestors cooked an animal from nose-to-tail providing an abundance of connective tissue and cartilage in their diets.
Gelatin is a very rich source of collagen and as such provides a healthy dose of the amino acids that form collagen. As noted above, gelatin can be found in bone broth, but it’s also available as a powder which can be mixed into smoothies or juice. Be careful though to ensure you get a high quality gelatin from grass-fed cows to prevent contamination from toxins or hormones.

Bioactive Collagen

When you ingest normal collagen in the form of animal tissue, or as non-bioactive powders, it enters the stomach, where it is broken down, like all other proteins, into its constituent amino acids. Collagen synthesis from these amino acids is often very low.
Supplements containing unique bioactive collagen peptides have been shown to enhance the natural power of collagen. Bioactive collagen peptides have an amino acid profile that corresponds perfectly to that of our own collagen. Importantly, bioactive collagen peptides are high in the amino acids glycine and hydroxyproline, and hydroxylysine which are abundant in collagen. With this unique amino acid composition, bioactive collagen peptides can promote the natural formation of collagen, through a rapid increase in synthesis of procollagen, a pre-cursor for collagen. This has been shown to reduce wrinkles and improves bone matrix synthesis resulting in strong bones.
So now you know why collagen is so important, and the best ways to keep your joints, bones and skin strong and healthy.

10 Health Conditions Linked To Poor Oral Hygiene

April 04, 2018

Trips to the dentist can be a traumatic experience for many of us.
Although dentistry has moved on leaps and bounds in the last decade, it still conjures up images of a Victorian dentist armed with a big drill and no anesthetic for plenty of people. Brits are often known for having bad teeth, and it looks like we really are living up to this stereotype.
In fact, for some people this fear is so strong, they abstain from visiting the dentist completely.  Some of their phobias are so bad “they haven’t seen a dentist for years. It’s common for us to hear from someone in their twenties or thirties who hasn’t been to the dentist since childhood”.

Conditions Associated with Dental Health

The fact you get fillings as a result of not brushing your teeth should not be news to anyone, but there are far more health problems linked to poor oral hygiene than you may think. A toothache left untreated could end up having some serious implications. Here are just some of the illnesses and ailments which are directly linked to bad oral health:
  • Heart Disease – numerous dentists have argued that gum disease is often a precursor to heart disease.
  • Stroke Risk – as above, plaque enters the bloodstream due to gum disease and can clog arteries in the brain, leading to stroke.
  • Dementia – people with dementia forget about oral health, which leads to further deterioration of health in other areas.
  • Respiratory Problems – bacteria and plaque can inflame breathing airways. And let’s not forget about bad breath.
  • Diabetes – Oral infections such as gingivitis and gum disease can spread much more easily among diabetics.
  • Erectile Dysfunction – men with chronic periodontal disease (CPD) have damaged endothelial cells, which line the blood vessels (where it matters).
  • Premature Birth – tooth and gum disease has also been linked to early childbirth, due to an increase in the production of prostaglandin, a hormone which can induce labor.
  • Female Fertility – a woman with gum disease take an average of 2 months longer to fall pregnant than those without.
  • Pancreatic Cancer – significant associations between the antibodies of oral bacteria and pancreatic cancer were discovered in a study by the journal Gut.
  • Kidney Disease – medical research has also documented a link between periodontal disease and kidney disease, suggesting there is a connection between the two.
This list is not intended to frighten you, but to illustrate just how serious the impact of untreated tooth problems can be. A toothache alone will affect productivity, cause headaches and can affect someone’s behavior at work. As an employer, it can end up affecting your company’s productivity as a whole, and as Nigel Carter from the BDHF says, it is “an important factor in a healthy workforce”.
Dental insurance can be built into a company’s benefits scheme, and can greatly improve retention, decrease absenteeism from a toothache and keep people smiling for long. Companies such as Elect Employee Benefits offer group dental insurance as part of their complete employee benefits solution

How To Take Care Of Your Baby

April 04, 2018

Being a mother is a gift from nature. Some are naturally motherly nature and have the sense how to take care of the baby and there are others who need some extra thought and effort put into baby care. Here are some tips to Take Care Of Your Baby. They can be quite different to grownups since their senses are not developed and they need all the care and nurture they can get.

Summer Baby or Winter Baby?

It is extremely essential to handle your bundle of joy depending on the time of the year he/she is born. Babies that are born in a certain season might act and respond differently to a baby who is born in a different season. So you have to be ready to take care of the baby depending on the season it was born. For example, babies born in winter need more cautious care and also warm clothing. Then again, summer babies need lesser clothes and more room ventilation. Throughout winters it is best to have a humidifier in your infant’s room to make sure there is no hydration taking place.

Touch, comfort, and safety

The newborn babies have an elevated feeling of touch since his/her nervous system and senses are not properly developed yet. So it is really important to keep the child next to your body (to be exactly close to your heart), since all the nine months in your womb your toddler has always been listening to your heartbeat. So listening to your heartbeat again outside will be very comforting for the baby. He or she will feel very secure when you do that. Also, keep the right dresses and accessories near the baby to give the utmost care it needs.

Hygiene matters

Your infant’s umbilical cord eventually dries up and will fall within a week or two since the birth. It is very important to apply an antiseptic cream directly after your infant’s bath for something like 2-3 weeks. In some cases, the umbilical cord might lead to bleeding or infections risking the health of the baby. So it is very important to keep that area clean and healthy and free of any possible infections. Since they are very gentle they will not be able to handle an infection. Also, babies that young cannot be given antibiotics. Hence it is important to avoid infections. While washing your infant, make sure you hold the child’s head high. After that, hold the child under the armpits and wipe infant’s back. Don’t keep your infant’s diaper on for more than 8 hours.

Feeding and burping in the right position

Babies eat very little but they need to be fed every 2-3 hours. Your infant will often give signs of what it needs. In the event that you are feeding the baby with a bottle, always hole the infant’s neck and head in an upward slant. You always have to make sure that baby does not choke and no liquids are getting into delicate lungs.

Different Kinds Of Treatments For Heart Failure

April 04, 2018

he heart can be considered to be the engine that keeps the blood moving through all the veins in the human body. In order for heart muscles to pump legitimately, it should be sustained by different coronary veins. Any malady or blockage of the veins can deny the heart muscle with the fundamental oxygen and blood it needs for operating in a full and legitimate capacity.
A heart attack that is medicinally reputed to be extremely difficult for the body, is the unhindered localized death of a zone of the heart muscles created by the obstruction of a coronary vessel. This hindrance of blood moving through one of the extensions of the coronary course is regularly brought about by a burst of a medical condition called the atherosclerotic plaque. Bloodstream may be so extremely contracted, or completely blocked that a segment of the heart muscles ceases to exist. Although it is difficult, there do exist some treatments for heart failure.

What Is heart failure?

The most average side effect of a heart attack is torment or pain in the midsection which is known as angina pectoris that may transmit to the left arm, neck, and jaw. Different side effects might incorporate the shortness of breath, dizziness, the high temperature in the midsection, or lack of awareness. Heart failure happens due to insufficient blood flow for a long time to a certain portion of heart due to which the muscles of that part get damaged or dies. This situation is known as myocardial infarction in medical terminology. There are many treatments which are famous for heart failure aiming to improve its functioning and relieving the patient from frequent and severe heart failure. Some of the surgeries for heart failure are listed below.
Bypass surgery: This is one of the most used and known surgical treatment for heart and used in a case where the artery is blocked and it must be cleared for the smooth flow of blood to the heart.
Left ventricular assist device: This surgery helps your heart to provide the blood throughout the body as per its natural smooth flow.
Heart valve surgery: In a case where the valves of the heart are damaged, this treatment makes the valves in previous situations as naturally they should be and help the blood flow to run smoothly. In case of heart failure due to valve problems, blood flow may get disrupted which is taken care in this surgery.
Enhanced External Counterpulsation Therapy: Basically this is a treatment for chronic heart pain which happens due to disturbed blood flow towards the heart. In this therapy, cuffs are fitted to the outer body which functions in accordance with the heart rhythm and makes the blood flow regularly.
Heart transplant: This surgery has opted in such situation where due to heart failure the damaged heart does not respond to any therapy or treatment at all and need to be replaced.
These are the most well-known treatments for heart failure across the world and are recommended and adopted by expert doctors as per the condition of the patients.
